Second Chance believes that God designed each person to live out a specific purpose so that together, we can fulfill an eternal assignment and impact our world. We believe the best way to implement these empowerment priorities is to focus on the next generation, families, and communities.
We Break Cycles of Poverty
So often, individuals are living out the results of their parents’ and grandparents ’ situations or lack thereof. The ability for people to survive and thrive is likely because of reasons outside of their control. As more and more cycles of poverty are broken, the outlook of an entire community will improve. We must unlock empowerment to prevent ongoing generations of poverty in communities by:
- Providing reunification to broken families
- Providing access to clean water
- Providing access to quality medical care
- Providing locally led programs for spiritual development
- Offering emergency relief as necessary
- Providing 24/7 care for the most vulnerable children
- Making pregnancy, geriatric, etc. care available as needed
- Offering restorative care such as social workers and mental health support
Create Sustainable Change
In communities where poverty is prevalent, under-resourced systems often fall short in caring for the most vulnerable. Over time, we have learned that empowering one can launch hope for hundreds of others. Each person empowered within a developing community plays a key role in the stability of the local society. We must equip individuals to become stronger units that can ripple outwards. We do this by:
- Providing teacher salaries, books, uniforms, classroom supplies, and a daily hot meal for students in school
- Walking alongside young adults to properly transition them into society and independent living
- Providing locally led programs for social and spiritual development to all ages
- Offering trade courses and income opportunities to parents without a skill or job
Expand Proven Methods One Nation at a Time
We believe God has equipped us with a global mindset and powerful vision. After over 10 years of relationship, research, and self-sustaining efforts in partnership with high-capacity local leaders, we are exploring launching change worldwide by:
- Exploring and understanding the realities of communities through strategic assessments
- Identifying sustainable ways to holistically fight poverty by connecting with high-capacity local leaders as well as members of the community
- Launching our Pathway to Partnership to begin supporting long-term discipleship, health, education, economic growth, and care
- Resourcing Local Leadership to create significant, proven steps of progress
